The game last Thursday was something that I had been looking forward to for a long time. I went to a small private school so the fan base was not as big as what any college team has. I did go to Vanderbilt football games though. The reason I was so excited for this game was because this was going to be my first football game as a college student. I wanted to be a part of the madness. The Golden Eagles played a great game as they beat Maryville College 56-7. My player of the game was wide receiver #3. Although Maryville is a small school, it was a good game to get some motivation back after a tough loss to Iowa. I am extremely excited to see how we do in the OVC this year. Go Golden Eagles!

Career Assessment
Upon doing the career assessment assignment, I found out some pretty interesting things about myself. I took the interests test, the skills test, and the personality test. The interests test was not a surprise to me. My results showed that my highest interests were business and engineering which is what I am having trouble deciding between for what my major should be. Education was close behind as well.
The skills test surprised me because it gave me six categories for my results. The categories were: working with people, working with hands or equipment, communicating, organizing information, working with math, and special activities. The common theme in all of these was following instructions and being able to manage my time.
The personality test was interesting to me as well. There were six categories and it told me which three I was most closely related with. The group that I am most like is the realistic group. The second group was the investigative group. The final group was the enterprising group. It is weird to take tests and see results about yourself, but it will help me choose the career that is best for me and who I am.

8-31-11 Group Lecture Blog
The main focus of the group lecture was the value and importance of a college education. A main point of the lecture was that it is very difficult to find a job without a college degree. Furthermore, if we have intentions of having families of our own then we need to make sure that we get a degree to ensure that we may be able to get a job to provide for our families. The fact was stated that 1/2 of the college students eventually drop out. When people drop out and then try to get jobs, they will need government assistance to get a job which affects those who have jobs and a college degree. So it is in our best interest now to help those who need it and connect with the people who will help us graduate.
